The two sentences you see above are terrific ways to express that what you are showing is a translating device. In the second sentence you will see the word app. An app is an application on a smart phone or tablet. If your translating device is an application on your phone the second sentence would be appropriate. If it is an application or another device the first sentence would be appropriate.
For example: "Hey, I brought my translator so we should be able to communicate better."
